Edgar Phillips

Edgar John Bernard Phillips was born in London in 1970. He attended Solihull School, Bournville Art college and studied Architectural Glass at Wrexham, and gained a seven-year apprenticeship at John Hardman Studios, training in all aspects of stained glass design, manufacture and restoration.

He specialises in new commissions of stained glass, sculpture and lighting, where possible incorporating rescued and restored antique glass. His pieces adorn buildings across the globe – from churches to the homes of Hollywood royalty.

In 2012, he created his first pair of wings, inspired by his own remarkable story of triumph over adversity.

The wings have gone on to win Royal approval and bring hope and joy to many thousands – from monks to TV stars to visitors at Glastonbury, one of the world’s largest festivals.

He is currently artist-in-residence at The Bishop’s Palace, Wells, Somerset.

He is a proud supporter of the charity Mind in Somerset, which helped him and continues to help so many others with their mental health.
