Free Workshops

There will be a number of workshops taking place on 20th July at the Global Education Trust (GET) 38 Westgate Street, GL1 2NG and Gloucester Arts Centre, 4 College Street, GL1 1NJ.

Global Education Trust (GET)

Run by professional artists the workshops give a unique opportunity to learn or develop a wide range of artistic crafts.

All workshops are drop-in sessions and are completely FREE and include printing, book making, stop frame animation and junk modelling 10am – 4pm

The Global Education Trust (GET) have kindly allowed us the use of their book exchange on Westgate Street for the Free Exhibitions at Art In The City.

GET’s mission: We aim to promote literacy amongst all sections of society. Reading is not only an enjoyable pastime that sparks the imagination, an education also empowers individuals for the betterment of themselves and their community. Customers may take up to 3 FREE books when they visit our shop!

Gloucester Arts & Crafts Centre

Gloucester Arts & Crafts Centre is offering four experiential workshops, for people to have a go at building willow hurdles which, will be combined like patchwork to make the walls and roof of a Hand Made House. There will also be workshops for making mniature Paintings for the walls, Porcelain Flowers to climb up the outside of the house, and making felted birds, cats and dogs.

All participants can have a go for free and afterwards the house will be assembled for display, to be raffled at a later stage, with 25% raised coming to reimburse the Arts and Crafts Centre, and 75% towards Homeless Charities in the City.

The timetable:
10 – 12 a.m. Willow walls and Miniature Paintings
2 – 4 p.m. Porcelain Flowers and Felted Animals and Birds
