FREE Workshops

 

There will be a number of workshops taking place over the weekend at 38 Westgate Street. Run by professional artists the workshops give a unique opportunity to learn or develop a wide range of artistic crafts.

All workshops are drop-in sessions and are completely FREE.

The workshops taking place over the weekend over are:

Saturday 10 am – 1 pm

  • Book Making – make your own artist’s book to sketch or paint or collage, an art form in itself
  • Giant Illustration – add your drawing to a giant illustration of Art In The City which will form par of the Art Exhibition
  • Trash to Treasure – up-cycle trash into treasure, junk modelling with artist Amy Freeman
  • Carnival Costumes – make carnival head dresses, masks, tutus or even a tail ready for Gloucester Carnival
  • Creative Writing – add to our group poem to mark the event and try out your creative writing skills
  • Silk Painting – paint onto silk to make bright colourful Carnival flags and streamers

 

Saturday 1.30 pm – 4.30 pm

  • Giant Illustration – add your drawing to a giant illustration of Art In The City which will form par of the Art Exhibition
  • Image Transfer – use indian wood block prints to print flags
  • Monoprinting – try the art of monoprinting with Gloucester artist Dave Seed
  • Trash to Treasure – up-cycle trash into treasure, junk modelling with artist Amy Freeman
  • Painting – try a large scale paint workshop where artist Clancy Ward will share her usual technique with you
  • Carnival Costumes – make carnival head dresses, masks, tutus or even a tail ready for Gloucester Carnival
  • Storytelling – join in and learn the art of story telling using drums and percussion with local artist Roopert from Global Arts

 

Sunday 11 am – 3 pm

  • Carnival Costumes – make carnival head dresses, masks, tutus or even a tail ready for Gloucester Carnival
  • Image Transfer – make your own forest artworks by transferring images onto wood with forest artist Warren Day
  • Silk Painting – paint onto silk to make bright colourful Carnival flags and streamers
  • Storytelling – join in and learn the art of story telling using drums and percussion with local artist Roopert from Global Arts
  • Animation – make your own mini film using stop frame animation techniques
  • Painting – paint a miniature with artist Jim Brook
